Rules for reviewing texts submitted to StEuG (2013)
The preliminary verification of submitted texts takes place at regular sessions of the Editorial Committee, who select two reviewers for each paper. When selecting a reviewer, the Committee considers contiguity of their research interests with the issues addressed in the submitted text and the knowledge of languages (in the case of foreing language publications). In compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the editorial board appoints reviewers who are affiliated with a different university or academic unit than that of the potential Author. In the case of a text in a foreign language, we adhere to the rule that the reviewer be affiliated with a scholarly institution located in different country than that of the Author. The selected reviewers are sent an anonymous paper and the periodical’s review form (see attachment). Upon completion, the latter is sent back to the editorial board. The editorial board does not disclose the names of reviewers. In selecting the reviewers, the editorial board takes care to avoid a potential conflict of interests between the author and the reviewer (taking into account direct personal relationships, professional relationships of subordination or direct collaboration in the two years prior to the review). Apart from the default questions which enable the reviewers to award the paper an appropriate number of points, the review form provides space for a short description and summary, in which the reviewers unequivocally recommend the paper for publication or state reasons to the contrary.
As we are concerned with maintaining very high quality of the journal, the Editors reserve the right to publish only those texts which have received two positive reviews. The review form is available from the journal’s website. The list of collaborating reviewers is published at the website once a year.
